Subject: Gnan Vidhi and Gurupurnima??????

Hello!

I have a question about Gnan Vidhi.  What is it?  Why do we do it?  Why we need it?

How does Gnan Vidhi help?

I have heard until we eliminate Dharshanavarnia Karma, ego is not eliminated.  In order to eliminate ego, first we need to eliminate Dharshanavarnia Karma.

Why is it that only if Gnan Vidhi is taken, then only Liberation is possible?

I have lot of why what and How???

It still doesn't fit in my head that with creating vibration, ego can be eliminated.  How  is that possible?

Logic says eliminate Dharshanavarnia Karma, ego will automatically go away, so  Karma need to come to eliminate ego?

Please explain all this to me.

What is the importance of Gurupurnima?  Why the need for celebration?

Jai sachidananda,

Meena

Dear Meena:

You have asked many questions. These will be replied respectively. Your questions are highlighted and where necessary parts of sentences are highlighted in bold. The answers follow…

I have a question about Gnan Vidhi.  What is it?  Why do we do it?  Why we need it?

The Gnan Vidhi is the scientific process of the Akram Vignani Dadashri. It is the original experiment of the Gnani Purush who has given forth this gift to the world after a million years. During the forty eight minutes, the current conviction, ‘I am Meena’ is permanently fractured and is replaced by the permanent conviction ( pratiti ) that

‘I am pure Self’. Shuddhatma.

In the Gnan Vidhi, Gnan takes hold and the arising and entry of Gnan eliminates Agnan. Gnan is right belief. Agnan is wrong belief. I am shuddhatma is the right belief. I am Meena is agnan, wrong belief. To assert and  believe , ‘I am Meena’, is ego or ahamkaar. To know that ‘I am pure Self, shuddhatma’, is the egoless state. To believe, ‘I am Meena is to suffer pain and pleasure. To know, ‘I am ShuddhaAtma’, is to be free from pleasure and pain.

Simply by saying that, I am Atma’, one cannot experience Atma, the Self. For the experience of the ego less state, nirahnkari state, one has to meet someone who has attained the Self or is indeed ego less and free. Such a person is called an Atmagnani. Furthermore simply an atmagnani will not do. This Gnani has to be experienced in the separation vidhi of the type mentioned above. Such a person is also called a bhed vignani. The one who can separate, Meena from the Eternal Soul within and make you realise that indeed Meena is simply a transient body, thoughts and speech complex within which You are currently traveling. That realization is Self realization.

This is explained directly by Dadashri in the book

Who am I ?

At

www.dadashri.org/whomi.html

This book is available free on the web above.

Why do we do it?

It is done by the seeker who has realized that what she is seeking in life is not out there. There is a sense that it is all within her, but somehow she is not able to see, realize or experience the eternal bliss within. It is done by the person who feels by worldly experiences that all worldly pleasures are in the end painful or transient and temporary. Such a person feels bound. The knowledge that I am bound is a step towards freedom. Self Realization is the final freedom.

It is obviously not for the one who is asleep in the world, totally unaware of the law of karma and cause and effects, life after life. Such a person has not yet grown in the spiritual realm and enjoys and suffers in the ups and downs of this life.

Why we need it?

Everyone in the world is suffering, life after life. Maaya, illusion makes him forget that he has suffered innumerable lives. When the times are good, he lives with gusto and believes he is the doer. When bad times befall, he blames others. In this recurrent cycle of pleasure and pain, he is simply not aware that a new life of pleasure and pain is being created within. Thus without a Gnani there is no mukti.

There are many with highly developed intellects and lifelong traditions of worship who challenge what has been stated above. Unfortunately, their intellect has now become their own enemy. The only path to dissolve the ego, the path of The Vitarag, is rejected by them, even as they continue to insist that their dharma is the correct one and all others are not. The message of the Vitarag is that without a Sadguru, A Gnani there is no liberation.Simply doing elaborate pujas and kriyas of a statue will not liberate anyone. Meaningful annihilation of internal kashayas; anger, greed, deluded conduct, passion, and greed; will liberate a person. Such annihilation is only possible by the Akram Method in the current time cycle where the old traditional path of tapascharya has become very very difficult, although not impossible.

We need the Gnan Vidhi because we need to know. We need to know what the Enlightened Ones have known. We need to experience that. We need to know the purpose of our human birth, who we are, where we are, where we came from, and where we are going. We need to know why we have all these relatives around us, why there is so much suffering in this world, who is at fault, and what is the exact solution for it.

We need the Gnan Vidhi because it is our birth right. We need it because it is now available. Before 1962 it was not. Not for a million years.

How does Gnan Vidhi help?

It helps. That is all we know. How it helps, meaning what is the mechanism behind it, no one except the Gnani Purush may say. He is the Original Scientist. It is like asking why does a candy taste sweet? If one is simply concerned with a sweet taste, there is  little need to find out why or how it tastes sweet. One would have to do a lot of neurobiological research on the taste buds and nerve endings on the tongue and its connections to specific areas of the brain which appreciates taste. Then again, the final conclusion will be elusive. The fact remains that it is sweet.

The Gnan Vidhi is the ship that carries you back into your own ocean of bliss. It is a one way home bound ship only. Everything that you have done so far in life has taken you away from your home, where your Lord, Dadbhagwan resides. In the Gnan Vidhi you get a darshan of this Eternal Lord.

I have heard until we eliminate Dharshanavarnia Karma, ego is not eliminated.  In order to eliminate ego, first need to eliminate Dharshanavarnia Karma.

You probably have heard all kinds of things written in the traditional scriptures. These are studied by those who follow the traditional path, not the Akram Path. These remarks are then passed out by those who know the theory but have yet to pass an examination that gives them the experience to say anything with experiential conviction.

Various categories of Karma are defined by the Lord who has exposed everything as is.

I am Meena  is an avaran, veil over your darshan. Such a belief is the result of a past karma.

I am Shuddhatma means the veil has been removed. There is no place for the ego.

Dadashri removes the darshan mohaniya component of the mohaniya karma. This is the critical karma effect which makes you behave as Meena throughout your life. By eliminating the darshanmohaniya karma, Dadashri releases you from new karmas, charging of karmas for next life. What is left for you to go through is charitra mohaniya component of mohaniya karma in this life. This is the effect karma which you have to go through, because they are ready to give you the effects. Charitra mohaniya karma will be experienced as all effects as Meena in this life. Effects can only be stated as effects by one who is experiencing only the effects and is no longer causing anything. If the causes are happening then it is cause and  effects, not effects only. The causes are hidden and unknown.

We have just discussed the theory behind it all. Only the Gnani Purush and the fully enlightened Ones know the precise karma creation and effects. We can only suffer the effects through pleasure and pain and other ways we have experienced.

What we know for sure is that we have separated from this person whom the world identifies as Meena, Chandulal, shuddha etc. There is bliss in this knowledge of separation.

Why its only Gnan Vidhi is taken then only Liberation is possible?

This is very subtle, yet critical. It has to do with the ego and its function of charging karma. As Meena, you are constantly charging new karma without your knowledge. This is nothing but attraction and bonding within of subatomic particles called parmanoos whenever Meena experiences pleasure or pain through the five senses. Without the Gnan Vidhi Meena is a mixture type complex of the overt body, inner feelings and kashayas and desires, and the Self, Atma. This simply is. Anything that happens within, like anger is perceived as happening to me, Meena. This is darkness. In fact it is happening within the body complex which the world identifies as Meena, and yet you say, ‘I am angry’. This anger is the kashaya and it traps you, binds you not only in this life but also for the next life. This happens because these feelings called bhaavs create a new causal body which will become visible to all in the next life.

The Gnan Vidhi is the Light of The Self that instantly eliminates all darkness and ignorance. There is no Meena left anymore. There is, but You are no longer Meena. Whatever behaves and becomes angry as Meena is not you. It is the formed complex from past life karmas. This knowledge in action is Liberation.

It is impossible if one does not meet a Gnani Purush. A thousand lifetimes of intense study of scriptures and ego related efforts at tapas will not lead to this liberation. These are the words of The Gnani.

In Satyug, liberation was possible, simply by being graced with the darshan of a Tirthankara or a Fully Enlightened One. Now, there is no such being in our world. So nature has given us the Akram Vignani who liberates us in a couple of hours. What amazing krupa.

If a person who is against the Gnan Vidhi tells you that he or she is liberated, that is fine and dandy for him. The critical question then, is whether he can give you that liberation. If so, by all means stay and follow him.

I have lot why what and How???

Quite understandable. You are seeking and searching. You will find the answers. What we have discussed so far is all theory. The practical approach does not take so long. The Vidhi for you, Meenaben will be done in a time shorter than what has taken to type all this. But by all means study the questions and answers that are on the following web page from our readers

http://www.dadashri.org/satsangdada.html

and feel free to ask more. The final samadhan unfolds with life or by a live meeting with a Gnani.

It still doesn't fit in my head with creating vibration, ego can be eliminated.  How that is possible?

I do not know where you heard this. Dadashri has never said it. He has always maintained that to separate You from Meena is his job. He says that The Gnani Purush can destroy all your sins in the blazing fire of Gnan. This is what Sri Krsna has also said.

Again what exactly happens in the Gnan Vidhi cannot be described. Only the results can be. The result is that Gnan, Enlightened World View takes hold and with sincerity towards the Gnani Purush by following his Agnas, Moksh while living becomes our daily reality.

With Gnan we can tell how much darkness we used to have within, before Gnan.

These questions, how , why, doubts etc are the functions of the buddhi of Meena, which is highly developed. They will block your moksha. Even if you were in the direct presence of Lord Mahavira, this enemy of Meena, the intellect will not let you see the Lord.

Logic says eliminate Dharshanavarnia Karma, ego will automatically go away so that Karma need to come to eliminate ego?

Logic is mediated through buddhi, intellect. Gnan is beyond all logic and intellect. Ego is the servant of buddhi and logic. It is blind and will always follow the decisions made by buddhi. Pragnya is the only force that can override and defeat the buddhi. Pragna eliminates the ego. Pragna begins in the Gnan Vidhi. It is in operation until final liberation.

Try and define for yourself, Meenaben what you mean by Darshanavaraniya Krama. If you look at your mother as your mother, it is a darshan avaran. But then, there is no other way you can look at her. You do not have the divine vision. That divine vision is obtained in the Gnan Vidhi by the infinite grace of Dada Bhagwan, the Lord within you, through the medium of the live Atmagnani Purush in front of you. Now you will see the Pure Self in your mother just as readily as you see your mother. You will become aware of who she really is, and that she is really meena’s mother, not Yours.

There is not simply the darshan avaraniya karma to be dealt with. There are 7 more and the Gnani Purush deals with all of them respectively in the Gnan Vidhi. To do such a precise operation , The Gnani has arisen after a million years.

To not recognise the Liberator in front of you is the final darshanavaraniya karma. The darshan is gone. Like the Lord who left us 2500 years ago. What would you do if you were in front of the Lord now? That is what you will have to “do” when you are in front of the Gnani Purush. He represents the Lord.

What is the importance of Gurupurnima?  Why need celebration?

The Gnani is no one’s Guru, yet those who have been liberated by Him, call Him the Guru of Gurus, the Sadguru. After the Gnan Vidhi he resides within you as the Eternal all loving Sadguru, always there to liberate you and shine his light of knowledge on all worldly affairs. This special day is reserved in India for the appreciation and reverence and respect to the Spiritual Master whoever he may be. Mahatmas of Dadashri make it a very special event because there has to be some way in which eternal gratitude may be expressed to the One who has ended infinite lifetimes of bondage and misery.

They therefore, celebrate with love, pomp, show and shobha. During those days they become the children of the Gnani, young and old all alike.

Dear Meenaben:

In response to the following answer, yesterday:

There is not simply the darshan avaraniya karma to be dealt with. There are 7 more and the Gnani Purush deals with all of them respectively in the Gnan Vidhi. To do such a precise operation , The Gnani has arisen after a million years.

You have asked:

As you mentioned above, thats all they work in Gnan vidhi (to destroy Ghathi and Aghati Karma.) ????

Dadashri says that in the Gnan Vidhi, your darshanavaraniya karma and you darshanmohaniya karma are destroyed.

‘I am Meena’ is darshan avaran. It is deluded vision. It does not let you see exactly. It is a ghati meaning it affects the soul. You become Meena. In fact you are the Master of The Universe with infinite bliss, yet you move about searching for happiness.

Combination of dadrshan and gnan avarans result and lead to mohaniya karma which binds you for ever. Behaving as Meena is the mohaniya karma. It binds new 8 karmas listed by you below. This mohaniya karma is the king. Defeating him is the task of the Gnani. With it being alive, no purushaarth works.

Furthermore with mohaniya karma, comes antaraya karma. Where there is moha, there is obstruction.

The Gnani does not manipulate any of the other karmas in the Gnan Vidhi. His work is done because as  these two are destroyed  samyak darshan is established. I am pure Self , I am Shuddhatma is samyak darshan…right belief in action.

The One who is permanently removed from all causal karma is only left to be the observer of the effect karmas. After the Gnan Vidhi you do not have to see through the tainted glasses which represent the 8 dravya karmas mentioned. Instead you acquire the infinite darshan to see everything as is. This is because all avarans on your darshan are destroyed. In fact if you do not interfere with the rest of the unfolding discharging karmas, by remaining true to the Agnas of the Gnani, you will be born in the vicinity of Current Living tirthankar, Lord Simamdhar in your next life. This is his assurance and guarantee.

Now in response to the following:

Dadashri removes the darshan mohaniya component of the mohaniya karma. This is the critical karma effect which makes you behave as Meena throughout your life. By eliminating the darshanmohaniya karma, Dadashri releases you from new karmas, charging of karmas for next life.

You have asked:

How can someone removes the Darshan Mohaniya Component??

I understood its our own Purusharth (bhave)  can help to remove, According to theory of Karma, no one can do for any one? Every individual has to work on their own?

Please expain?

How can someone removes the Darshan Mohaniya Component??

Darshan Mohaniya is a very thick veil that simply does not let you see the reality. All you see is the physical world and its interactions. It does not let you see that all desires and attractions and repulsions happening are not happening to you, but within the one who is in front of you, within Meena. Meena is nothing but a name giving to this seemingly alive woman with thoughts, speech and acts. It is that body which is called Meena. Within that body all kinds of machines are working, reacting to the environment and circumstances. In front of the husband, Meena becomes a wife. In front of the children, Meena becomes a mother. In front of a brother, Meena becomes a sister. In front of the mother, Meena becomes a daughter. So all that is happening to Meena is evidentiary and changing. By being swept up in this change is the effect of darshan mohaniya karma.

This can never ever be destroyed except by the Grace of a Gnani Purush.

He is called a Gnani Purush precisely because he can do that. Lord Krsna destroyed this for Arjuna. Lord Mahavira destroyed this for Swami Gautam. Lord Vashishtha desroyed this for Sri Rama.

I understood its our own Purusharth(bhave)  can help to remove, According to theory of Karma, no one can do for any one? Every individual has to work on their own?

Let us complete your partially correct understanding. This will help you understand the great swaroop of the Gnani like Arjun finally did. Purushaarth is of two types. One is the purushaarth of Meena. Meena’s purushaarth is through bhaav, deep inner intent. You want liberation, you want bliss, you want enlightenment. This is also called bhaav karma. This will lead to its results, as you will meet those that lead you towards it in the next life. Every bhaav has its effects. If you make the bhaav that you yourself will find a way to liberation by your own efforts, you will be presented with such circumstances. This is a very difficult and long route. Dadashri says that the spontaneous enlightenment which happened to him in 1958, is the culmination of sadhanas of anant avatars, life times.

Then there are others who accept defeat in this matter, and are ready to surrender to the One who knows. There is a deep desire to know the Self. They have the bhaavna to meet an enlightened Purush and accept freedom from Him. This bhav also comes to fruition. The choice between the 2  purushaarth remains.

The actual meeting with a Gnani in this life is the result of previous bhaav purushaarth. It is no accident.

According to theory of Karma, no one can do for any one? Every individual has to work on their own?

Correct. Exact. Except in matters of liberation from infinite cycles of death and birth. There a Gnani is needed. Arjun had to kill all, even when he did not want to. He did his duty, followed the effects of his past life karma and yet did not have to be born again! Why? With the Gnan from Sri Krsna, he was merely an observer of Arjun doing the killing. He became separate from the doer. Arjuna remained the doer. He became the Knower and The Seer only.

Arjun was a maha purusharthi. Why did he have to surrender to Sri Krsna?

Until one meets a Liberator, one has no choice except to do “good” karmas and avoid “bad” karmas. After meeting the Liberator, there is no bhav karma left. Only the dravya karmas are left to discharge. All doer ship is abolished for the One who comes home to the Self.

 Jai sachidananda

I have written my question in bold:

As you mentioned below, thats all they work in Gnan vidhi(to destroy Ghathi and Aghati Karma.) ????

There is not simply the darshan avaraniya karma to be dealt with. There are 7 more and the Gnani Purush deals with all of them respectively in the Gnan Vidhi. To do such a precise operation , The Gnani has arisen after a million years.

Dadashri removes the darshan mohaniya component of the mohaniya karma. This is the critical karma effect which makes you behave as Meena throughout your life. By eliminating the darshanmohaniya karma, Dadashri releases you from new karmas, charging of karmas for next life.

This is what I knew:

Prakriti Bandha (Type of karma):

When karmic matter attaches to the soul, it obscures soul's essential nature of perfect knowledge, perfect vision, perfect conduct, unobstructed bliss, unlimited energy, eternal existence, equality and formlessness.  The different types of karma obscure different quality or attributes of soul.  This is known as Prakriti bandha.

Ghäti karma and Aghäti karma:

Prakriti bandha is classified into eight categories, according to the particular attribute of the soul that it obscures.  These eight categories of karma are grouped into two major groups, known as Ghäti karma, which subdues the qualities of the soul, and Aghäti karma, which relates to physical body of the living beings and does not defile the qualities of the soul.

Ghäti karma:

Jnänävaraniya karma

It covers the soul's power of perfect knowledge.

Darasnävaraniya karma

It covers the soul's power of perfect vision.

Mohniya karma

It generates delusion in the soul in regard to its own true nature.  The soul identifies itself with other external substances and relationships. It covers the power of Right Faith and Right Conduct.

Antaräya karma

It obstructs the natural quality or energy of the soul such as charity and will power.  It also prevents a living being from doing something good.

Aghäti karma:

Vedniya karma

It obscures the blissful nature of the soul, and thereby produces pleasure and pain.

Näma karma

It obscures the non‑corporeal existence of the soul, and produces the body with its limitations, qualities, faculties, etc.

Gotra karma

It obscures the soul's characteristics of equality, and determines the caste, family, social standing, and personality.

Äyushya karma

It determines the span of life in one birth, thus obscuring soul's nature of eternal existence.

The Awareness of the Eternal is Bliss.

Last update: April 24 , 2004

Please note that the responses of shuddha above are simply the experience of only one of many thousands of mahatmas of The Gnani Purush
Pujya Dadashri and are in no way intended to make any specific claims for others. They are highly individualised and personal experiences and on this science all matters that relate to inner experiences and representations are for the person experiencing them. There is no world experience when it comes to the interaction of the self and the Self. Precise answers are the ones that result in a meaningful change within an individual for personal bliss and worldly peace. Such precise experiential answers are only possible when one meets a Gnani Purush.
