Shuddha Upayog Upyoga Applied awareness; Sentient application; Active and alert attentiveness of the Real Self Active (part) of awareness Active applied awareness means to know that you are pure and to see the pure. To see that which is eternal in all, the pure after knowing your own Self to be pure is shuddha upayog. 'I am Pure', hu shuddha chhoo . See yourself with this pratiti conviction, laksh attention and anubhav experience and to see others from this level of awareness is called shuddha upayog pure awareness. Now if somone happens to come to you carrying a huge garland to
pay respects to you and at that time if you experience inner feelings of
attraction towards this person and an opinion that he is a good person and
then subsequently if he jerks it away and tears it to pieces and you
experience a sense of displeasure towards him then it is not pure
awareness. Q: Yes changes do occur within and I become affected by them, Dada. D: When such changes occur within then know that junk kacharo still remains within. Dadashri has called all that impedes the bliss of the Self as junk. Garbage that needs to be swept out from within so the bliss experience prevails. This garbage is essentially due to residual wrong understanding after the Gnan Vidhi process. Pure awareness means you never forget the Self.All time that has occured without raag attachment or dwesh abhorrence is called pure awareness. Q: While sitting here in satsang, if we see pure Self in all the others, is it pure awareness? D: Yes, when you see shuddhatma pure Self in all the others it is fine, but if one of them comes and slaps you and at that time you do not see the pure Self in him then you are not in pure awareness. If a policeman is escorting you to a jail and at that moment you see the pure Self in the policeman then you are in pure awareness. When the wife is yelling at you, and at that time you see the pure Self in her then you have achieved something. Such is the Self that I have "given" you. (in the Gnan Vidhi). You need to know this. What type of the Soul have I "given" you? Neeevada Shuddha Atma Absolutely, exactly and prefectly pure Soul. Never again will it revert to the old self. You need to be ready for the Self. You have now become shuddhatma so believe that you are pure. Believe that 'I am absolutely pure and nothing else.' If Chandubhai's ( Dadashri's common satsang term for the worldly name given to your body and thisterm is commonly used in all Dada satsang to refer to that which has been separated from You after the Gnan Vidhi ) previous life karma unfolds in this life and amidst these a very negative event occurs which is considered by the world as evil and wicked, then even amidst such turmoil your shuddhatva pure state should not change at all. I have given you the pure state of The Self. Thereafter Udaykarma, unfolding of past life causal karma in this life as events of thoughts, speech and actions and their worldly interaction; whatever they may be, may unfold. If something wrong happens through you, the worldly self, and if you feel guilty about it, feel that you are ashuddha impure, then you are not in the awareness of the pure, you are not in shuddha upayog. It does not matter how bad, vile and evil an act has occured through you, it is no longer your doing, because You have been saparated from the the one who does all acts. You have not become defiled and impure. That which is impure is expressing. You must have this jagruti awareness. From now onwards, if someone curses you and you come complaining to me
then I know that you are not in pure awareness. See him as pure. He is
pure and all this interference is the wrestling of pudgals
complexes of thoughts, speech and acts which are simply reacting and
interacting as a consequence of causes in previous lives. Who is
wrestling? This complex and the one who carries its weight as being 'mine:
my body, my speech, my acts.' Lord Mahavir was in shuddha upayog pure awareness all twenty
four hours a day. And for you all is this awareness of the pure happens
for five, ten or fifteen minutes a day then also it is very good. What did
the Lord do? He saw the ones who stoned him as pure, who slapped him as
pure, those who threw heaps of wet mud over him as pure, those who hit him
and abused him as pure. This is the pure science of the Vitarags, the
Enlightened Ones, The twenty four Tirthankaras. It gives you moksh
freedom even as you move about in your daily life.

| Difference between Pure Awareness and Knower-Observer State |
Q: What is the difference between shuddha upayog and
gnaata-drashta and to know and observe state?
D: All three are the same. Yet shuddha upayog is more prolonged and lasting.That means if you tell someone, why did you curse me with foul language? Then it is not pure awareness. But if at such time it remains in your laksh attention or your dhyan awareness that ' Nagindas has cursed Chandubhai,' then it is pure awareness. You can not say, Nagindas cursed me.' That is not pure awareness. Pure awareness means no one is seen at fault. The entire world is innocent and beyond any blames. Q: Now when something happens and at that time this jovoon and jaanavoon, to see and to know, what is it? D: To be devoid of raag attachment and dwesh abhorrence means to see and to know. Q: So is this, jovoon and jaanvoon , to see and to know a step higher than pure awareness? D: No. The best of all is pure awareness....shuddha upayog. Pure awareness is the last station and its result is to see and to know.That which sees pure and knows pure is pure awareness. There are many ways to this. You must see the opponent as pure also. Do you see the opponent as pure? Q: I see his faults sometimes but then it is followed by pratikramans inner reversal with confession and apology, for the error committed. D: Quite right. That will do.
